Corporate Wellness Works
Corporate Wellness Programs are an investment in the health of your employees and your company. A Corporate Wellness Program can lower your health care costs, increase productivity, reduce stress company-wide, and provide a healthier work environment overall.
In a review of 42 articles analyzing worksite wellness programs, there has been shown to be a:
  • 28% reduction in sick leave absenteeism
  • 26% reduction in use of the health care benefit
  • 30% reduced worker’s comp claims and disability management
  • Reduced presenteeism losses.

Increase Productivity
If you could find a cost effective way to increase your employees’ productivity while boosting the overall moral in your company, would you hesitate to do so? Corporate wellness programs are proven to do just that by reducing the phenomenon known as presenteeism.

Presenteeism is the amount of unproductive time logged by employees during a typical work day and it is usually measured in hours, not minutes. It is easy to see how this directly effects your company’s bottom line.
Health care costs are skyrocketing
“The rapidity of innovation and the unpredictability of the directions it may take imply a need for considerable investment in human capital.” - Alan Greenspan

The statistics are abundant and staggering.
• 50% of health care expenditures are life-style related and therefore potentially preventable.

• Yet 95% of medical costs paid by employers are spent of diagnosis and treatment.

• On average, 31% of your employees make up 85% of your benefit costs.

Stress
Research has shown stress to be a significant driver of health care costs. Employees who say they are under uncontrolled stress have medical expenditures that are 46% higher than those who were not stressed, according to a study by Health Enhancement Research Organization, a not-for-profit research coalition based in Birmingham, Alabama. Moreover, research has found that stress fuels absenteeism, hampers on-the-job productivity and contributes to costly employee turnover. Cardiovascular Disease
Employees with heart disease and heart disease risk factors cost employers thousands of dollars more than healthy employees each year through higher insurance. Source: Doetzel, Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine 1998. Cardiovascular disease risk factors are easily identifiable with Salus’ complete Cholestech Biometric Screening.

The relationship between diet and exercise and decreased risk of Heart Disease is heavily documented through numerous research studies. On average, health care claim costs for IBM employees who exercise 1-2 times a week are $350 a year less than those who don’t exercise at all.
